i have a couple of shad drifting rigs i bought last year from a guy that was fishing them. i suppose they will do the trick.

I still intend on taking you up on your offer to fish for surf perch, Tom. I don't know how to fish for shad, but want to learn the umpqua for Steelhead, salmon & smallmouth bass. I'd go with you on a weekend day just for that, but have to work most weekdays.

fishing for those surfperch has been a bit unproductive when i've managed to get to the beach to try.
living this far away makes it kind of hard to just run down and fish on a whim.
it takes a bit of planing to avoid both high surf and inclement weather.
