it has some small populations of small cutthroat trout, in my experience it can be difficult to fish, but I would suggest starting by the bridge on philomath boulevard and waking upstream through the creek, or from the covered bridge you can walk up and downstream a decent ways, very light gear is the key for that creek, don't expect anything big but the trout have great colors if you can find them, where it meets the Mary's River theres plenty of little small mouth bass to be caught.

I went there today and caught a 7 inch cuttie in a 2-3 foot pocket on a spinner

Drako: try a small Royal Coachman wet, about #12 should do it. Use a small 4wt fly rod if you can. Youll have some fun!

Nice catch, Drako! As a Corvallis resident and fly-fisher, I’ve always been a bit curious about Oak Creek, but ultimately turned off from fishing it; just seems like too small of a creek that receives a lot of urban chemical runoff and impact from agriculture. While it’s not listed as closed in the reg book (to my knowledge), it just never felt morally right to fish it when there are other healthier, less fragile systems nearby.

That said, I’m impressed you caught that cutthroat in the low waters of August! Try fishing it with bright flies this winter? Often, big trout come up creeks like that from the Willamette during heavy rainfall. Have fun.
