They do contain mercury. Typically, the bigger the fish, the more mercury in the fish. I have heard stories of people actually getting high from eating an illegally caught oversized Sturgeon. (One of the reasons why not to break the law)
So basically, don't let anyone who is pregnant eat fish...
If it's only a short walk from the car to the river, I advocate this, but when you have to do any hiking, it can definitely be a pain to try and pack all that stuff around.
I have never noticed a difference. There might well be a slight difference, but I doubt it is significant.
And I always keep a little zip-top baggy for packing out the butts. The ziptop keeps the clothes from smelling up to bad as well.
Telling someone they are not a steelhead fisher, just because they asked a question, is being pretty dickish.
I have very little doubt that the OP is a responsible angler, and wouldn't try and snag fish. While the bowling alley spot may be a popular spot, assuming everyone there just snags...
Hey folks, gonna place an order at Poptop, and I wanted to know what your go-to color tends to be. I know White and Pink are pretty standard, but any others that tend to work well?
I agree the Fishing in Oregon book is a good one. I think it's about $30 down at Fishermens Marine.
For Plunking, Meldrum Bar is the old standbye spot for Steelhead, although it's kinda blown out right now.
Hmm, looks like your right. Did some research on it, and I gotta admit. It's not sustainable right now. Perhaps they will make some breakthroughs and get it working right, but for now, looks like it's eat wild or don't eat it.
Mine's not that impressive, but it sure was a lot of fun.
Caught a 2.5' shaker Sturgeon when I was catfishing. Was using a little medium-light rod, and was NOT expecting a Sturgeon to take it.(Was just using a single worm on the bottom)
15 minute fight altogether.
