    Better Eater?

I say an early Summer buck is the best tasting fish. The summers have more fat to sustain more time in the river and everyone knows that fat = good. The water temps are still cold so you still get that fridge effect. Plus somehow all the jumping they do makes them taste better.

    Fishing During Rain ?

Yes fish in the rain. It beats staying home sitting on your couch fat dumb and unhappy cause your not fishing. I know this from experience.

Landed a springer with an ambiguous adipose

It used to be illegal to bonk anything but a clean clip. I had a friend of a friend get a ticket for exactly that about 5 years ago. They have since changed the rule. Now it reads any clipped or partially clipped. I released a summer steelhead last year for the same reason only to remember at...

    Pulling Plugs for steelhead

Heres a few of my favorite plugs. I also have some hotshots, K11x's and a bunch of Brad's wigglers I sometimes use. But mostly I stick to the Tadpolly's for winter steelhead. If there's Springers in the river I will run K11x's more so than Tad because you can catch either springer or...

    Sandy Story 1/27

Thanks for the compliments everyone, I really enjoy seeing the look on peoples faces when they get their first steel on the line. I have actually had good luck picking up hitchikers along the river. Last year I picked up two guys from the bank in Oxbow I happen to strike up a conversation with...

    Clackamas @ Riverside/Winter Steel

Drifted Barton to Carver today from 0900- 1500. Water was up but green. We drifted Bobber and jig/bait, pulled some plugs and side drifted a bit. I am not really a bobber and jig guy unless I'm on the bank. I think I would have liked to just plug it a sidedrift the in between plugging spots but...

    Clackamas @ Riverside/Winter Steel

I went to Riverside today for a few hours. Worked my way up past the log jam for the first time today. Didn't catch anything I was drifting eggs and running jigs/ eggs under a bobber. Water is moving pretty darn fast still and was a olive drab color on the greener side. There were a few plunkers...

    pink steelhead worms

I see him on the river often and his little worms stuck in all the trees. I know he fishes a lot of worms, but he has to catch his clients fish and the best thing to use for that in high muddy water is bait. Worms work I'm not saying the don't, but if the fish can't see them or smell them they...

    pink steelhead worms

I Guarntee you the Glass's are fishing bait right now. You fish bait in high off color waters so fish can can smell it. You fish pink worms when the fish can actually see them. Also don't forget who pays for the Glass's fancy boat and the fact that they just happen to sell pretty pink worms as...

    steelies in willy??

What is so scary about having a toon on the Willy? It seems to be it would be safer than say a Sled going 25-30 MPH and hitting a deadhead or rooftop. THe problem I see with it is I have no idea where one would target Steelies near John's landing. Other than right next to the bank of course...

    ProGlow Bait Cure VS. Amermans

I have caught fish with Ammermans cure before but it almost always has something els in it as well. It's a good start but it can use some tweaking. I have caught both Salmon and steelhead on the cure. I also have caught a lot of Coho and a few CHinook on the 50/50 cure mentioned above. I like...
