If you dont mind me asking where in depoe bay? If you dont want to share its ok. i usually fish at boiler bay and left side(looking at the ocean) of the boat channel.
anyone know of a free public shooting area? ive heard of memoloose or something like that like 20miles passed estacada but i live near the clackamas town center and want to find somewhere closer somwhere withing 30mins hopefully its kinda spendy going to the shooting range nearby
yellow float line is good for when you are bobber and jig fishing, it allows the line to stay above the water so you can mend it easier and set the hook better well atleast thats what it does for me
anyone know any place good for steelhead fishing for a beginner? mainly float and jig? i know of high rock and the deep hole near river side forgot what its called, haven't fished them yet. just starting out so not looking for any place that is secret or anything, just a place that has fish...
thanks for all the great info guys, now another question when making jigs what is the rule of thumb to how far the feathers should hang off the end of the hook? like if the feathers are too far out the bend of the hook will it cause a miss strike?
For those who tie their own jigs after making them do you guys clean them? I notice that the marabou feathers I buy are died so the dye always bleed and I was wondering if it scares away fish or anything.. Any pointers when making my own jigs?? I'll post pics when I can.
Thanks
oh heres a good reason i dont use anything larger than 25lb mainline, if you got a good current going the thicker the diameter the more drag it has under water, and the more drag it has the more weight you will have to use to keep your gear on the bottom
today i went out using 25lb mainline at...
anyone hitting the alley tomorrow? i may hit it up unless its been really slow... this year is way slow compared to last year. i remember atleast 40-50 being banked in the mornings.

I have the revo sx HS(high speed 7.1:1) an excellent reel very smooth, i have used it on bass and salmon and it has yet to slow down or make any noise while reeling have owned it for about 6 months and am very satisfied
on a boat i fish near 205 bridge and throw down alvin wobblers those work pretty well, your setup would be 5' leader to a 3 way swivel, or sliding swivel, then a lead line of 5' to about 6oz cannon ball main line bout 25lb
the columbia is having a great run of chinook salmon right now itll depend if you got a boat or fishing from the bank. you could also pay a guide to take you out a bit spendy but they do a good job getting you to fish
