    Flies on a spinning rod

Bernduffy. I too am getting old (70 plus) and have fished with the spinning rod & a bobber for many years. I use one of those two inch egg bobbers that can be filled completely with water. When using this type of bobber the line is attached to a swivel and the bobber placed above the swivel...

Mixed bag @ Howard Prairie & Hyatt

Just a quick update on the bass at Hyatt. Visited Hyatt yesterday and fished along the weed and willow beds. Fishing was fairly easy and I limited in less than an hour. Most fish between 8 & 10 inches. Weapon of choice a 9 ft 4 wt fly rod with a popper and a leech fly for a dropper. All the...

    Tips on teaching fly fishing?

For the water you described I would recommend you attach the fly to either a 4 or 6 lb straight leader. Forget about tapered as it shouldn't be needed. Secondly I would keep that piece of leader as short as possible, say 3 or 4 feet max. That will make casting a lot easier than with a 7 foot...

    Bass at Agate Lake biting?

Caught two decent bass yesterday on a whooly worm however the cold spell slowed down the bite. It should pick up in a few days = weather permitting. Panman

    Bass at Agate Lake biting?

I fished Agate earlier this week for crappie. Agate has cleared quite a lot and flies produced results. Caught a few small bass and some gills as well. Hopefully this cold spell doesn't put a damper in the action. Panman

    Wild Water Fly Fishing rods

I have a Wild Water rod. However it is a 9 ft 4 wt. I have used the rod for several year with no complaints or problems. For that price I would consider buying. Panman

    Crappie jigs

I prefer using a fly that resembles a minnow over a jig simply because they are more durable. I like to sink the fly below either a popper or a corkie and fish them very slowly. Panman
