What's the happening lake for the Kiddo's near Hillsboro

Try Hagg Lake out near Forrest Grove. There is plenty of fish, bank access, and it is a nice lake. That is the only lake I have fished with any consistent success around Hillsboro. Night crawlers floated off the bottom, power eggs/bait, spinners, etc.. all have worked for me there. Don't forget...

Rod & reel setup for my friend?

Maybe Dick's has some more SST's. I've seen a 10'6 spinning rod in there before(Washington SQ). Fisherman's I know has a 9'6 SST....at least they did a few days ago when I went there.

Rod & reel setup for my friend?

The Okuma SST seems to be a great rod for around $60. Also, I know that some people think they are worthless, but an Ugly Stik lite is around $60 also, and the rod is super tough. Pretty much unbreakable. For the best rod selection, go to Bob's, but its kinda far away in Longview.

Drifting or bobber: what works for you?

Sometimes, I can close my eyes after a long day of float fishing and watch my float drift down river over and over again. I'm haunted in my dreams by floats drifting by and never going under:lol:
