OK, I will leave the hook in from now on if it's hooked in the throat. I would also imagine that the fishes body would reject the hook. The hook would be pushed out as the wound heals. It would be better than enternally damaging the fish I guess.
Thanks everyone for the advice,
FRC
I usually troll and on my pontoon I am unable to stop rowing and set the hook. Usually by the time I stop rowing and grab my rod I lost the fish. My method is to just keep rowing until it's obvious I have hooked the fish. Unfortunately, many of the fish swallow the hook so deep I have to keep...
Ooooh, I meant north lake. We camp and North lake often, I just called them and it's over $20 a night. Not worth it IMO. Are you sure the railways are not being used? Ha ha.
Thanks.
Anyone know a spot to camp for free around the south lake? Thinking of somewhere around the train tracks but don't know and do not want to get in trouble.
Thanks,
Fern
The only thing I've caught at night were bullheads. For the big bullheads I've had best luck w/ bacon. Have fun and don't get overwhelmed by not getting a chace to fish. Try to avoid rocky areas as the fish will bite and hide under rocks. They are near impossible to pull out. There are a lot of...
Hey, not sure how I missed this. I'm going to get some Seaguar leader, I already have the Maxima UG and I did not know that. It does feel very strong. Actually the 2 lb test leader I felt was stronger than the 4 lb test I have on my line (it's P-Line).
Thanks!
That’s awesome! You seem like you’re doing something right but I wonder what you could do with a stealthier set up. Ha ha. I feel you on not wanting to re-tie a lot, a good solution is using a barrel swivel then a good foot or two of leader than a fly-snap hook or no-knot fas-snap. You can pop...
I know of a green and alternating tracer pattern (appears black in pictures). Fireline smoke is gray colored hence the name. Fireline crystal is white and I believe there is yellow for the larger # tests. There is also a flame green and yellow/black but I'm not sure what they really look like...
I can totally be wrong because I've never seen it in person but you may be thinking of the regular fireline. Fireline Crystal and Fireline Smoke are two different colors from what I understand.

If you don't mind me asking what size swivel do you use? Also, what size leader? The swivel must be in proportion to the leader material otherwise excessive line twist will occur. Possibly because typical braided line floats the use of a smaller swivel will prevent this. Also a slower retrieve...
I've always used a long leader just so I don't have to re-tie the leader when switching gear. I don't understand what you mean you get what you ask for. I am researching Seaguar and they claimed to be the best on the market (but what manufacturer doesn’t? ) I assume you use the blue label...

Hey thanks! I'm also looking into Sunline 2lb test. It is supposed to be the best but I cannot find any real reviews yet. Still looking. I found a 2lb test fireline that is used for jewelry making. Not sure why it's not available to fisherman but it's the same fireline I think.
2lb Fireline...
