    Oregon Steelhead 2024

My last hurrah for this season (I think). It took all day to find this wild one, 5/6 lbs. tops.

He sounds determined. I did not want to discourage him.

    Oregon Steelhead 2024

The tried and true method would be to take a drive and look for well worn pullouts with trails to the river. Take note of where you see parked cars. Also pay attention to where the deadlines are on each river and whether they are still open. Some close at the end of March. Parks and boat ramps...

    Oregon Steelhead 2024

I think I have only bobberdogged once from a boat but I hear it is a good method. I just use a stop and try to adjust the depth as needed.

    Oregon Steelhead 2024

I carry two rods, one for hardware and one bobber rod. Usually I use jigs or pink worms on the bobber rod. There are a lot of methods I've not tried or mastered but why over complicate things? I've only fished twice this season and went 2 for three. Two on spoons and one on the pink worm. Looks...

Buddy missed a BEAST of a fish at Green Peter today!

What is the state of Green Peter now? You can launch a boat now? Sounds like some fish survived. What about the kokes?

Supplying Live Sand Shrimp for upcoming springer season in Oregon

There used to be a shop in Philomath and a gas station in Monmouth that had them. They were a great resource for us mid- valley folks headed to the Alsea Siletz, and the Nestucca.

    Shore fishing for lingcod

Fish OFF of jetties or rocky outcroppings or by kelp for those species. Soft plastics on jig heads would be a go to. Count on losing some gear to the rocks. You can also use bait under a slip bobber. I'd use herring on a mooching rig for Ling cod and sand shrimp for rockfish and greening. The...

So they went with a different contractor this year and got done in October. It's ready to use.

    Surf Perch in Waldport?

I don't know about Waldport but, a few miles north at Ona Beach, they fish for them there. Just north of Seal Rock.

Moving to Eugene, closest beach for surf perch?

There was once a member on here from Florence," bythesea", who used to report on surf perch fishing. He always touted Siltcoos Beach as his go to. It too far for me but I suspect it's still good.

    Paddling the Siuslaw

I've been kayak fishing 12 years now and can attest to the fact that wind can negate any help from drifting with the tide. That especially goes for an inflatable. I can think of at least four times when I thought I would paddle somewhere and float back with the tide but the wind came up fierce...

    Wacky Wednesday at Hagg Lake

Question. When would you use a ned rig vs the non-weighted Senko? I only go bass fishing a couple of times a year and have just used the unweighted Senko and plugs. Recently, after watching a bunch of videos on the ned rig, I went and bought the jig heads and used them quite a bit at Brownlee...

First edition that I found...anyone else got cool books like this one?

I haven't read this yet but it is written by OFF member sportsmanlio from Klamath Falls. He's a "species hunter" and travels all over to log new species. I've followed his Facebook for a while and he is over 1000 fish species. It's available on Amazon.

    Steelhead 2023 show OFF

It's too early to quit. I've only been once and only got a few trout. March and early April have been good to me in the past.
