30 lb carp on the fly

I only managed to catch two fish today, but one of them was this girl:

She tipped the scales at just over 30 lbs! I spotted her feeding with a few other fish and stalked close enough to make sure she saw my fly, and that her buddies did not. She ate a green soft hackle on 3 x tippet, just a beast of a fish. My second fish looked a lot smaller, but still weighed 22 lbs:

I hooked up late in the day with my buddy david, and he stipuck this nice 16 lber:

The fish were kind of hard to find today, but the ones we found were big!

I usually fish 1x, but the leader in my reel was pretty ratty and for some reason I only had 3 x in my bag...I wouldn't go lighter than 2 except by mistake! Got lucky as the big one ran through a weed bed and the tippet held.

Thanks everyone...I was pretty excited. That is the fourth fish over 30 lbs that I have caught, still trying to eclipse 35 lbs. they are hard to find and even harder to fool. Normally the big fish don't run like the 15 lbers, but this one ripped into my backing and took some serious line!
