North santiam report:
Woke up this morning bright and early thinking about where to hit up the north for steelhead. Thought about it for about an hour and all the trips I've made so far this summer with nothing to show, then I made a tee time for Santiam Golf Club and played 18 holes instead...
I don't mean waste of time to be out fishing. But I would rather at this point, save 5 trips to the north santiam and make 1 trip to the nestucca instead
They could benefit from lying about the numbers because they are continuing to increase our license fees, and if the numbers were really bad, people would stop buying them. They are government after all. I'm not saying they are doing this to us, and I hope they're not, but things are harder this...
This is what we're talking about. "Supposedly" one of the best returns in years, but nobody is catching anything... I know how to catch steelhead, and I know other guys who usually do pretty well on the river. I always fish first light, and I know the importance of smaller gear for summers. I...
Fishing has been terrible this year on the north, but your best bet would be up high around packsaddle at first light. I'm done with this river even though it's 5 minutes away. I'm gonna save my time, money, bait and frustration and go to the coast
There's something weird about the whole thing. They raised the limits, and the numbers are supposedly good. But it's been the worst year of fishing for myself and everyone that I have talked to so far out there. I've always been able to catch at least one steelhead on the north, this year it's...
You can fish for coho in pretty much any bay along the coast. Almost every bay gets a run. Look at odfw site and see which have wild retention also. Some of the bays I'd try would be winchester bay, yaquina bay, tillamook bay, and Nehalem bay. Nothing very difficult about it. Easiest way to...
Have u guys been catching this year? I pretty much threw in the towel. This year has been the worst for me in the last 4 years with zero hook ups and I'm pretty much out of bait and jigs. I Just don't have the drive to go put in the time and money on this river any more
Nice job! I hooked my first summer a couple days ago below the bridge on a jig tipped with sandshrimp, but I botched the landing and he came unbuttoned. Nice to hear there are some fish starting to bite, it's been a rough start so far this year.
