Missing fisherman in the Wilson River

This is why I actually wear my pfd 100% of the time. Whether in the boat or wading along the bank, I won't fish without it. Praying for him and his family...

Nestucca report and a TFO shout out

Just got home from work and my rod is here! The section is a perfect match, happy day! They definitely have made a loyal customer, love the rod, the price is right and the service was great. To replace that section when I was clear it was my fault 100% shows real character from them!

Nestucca report and a TFO shout out

We talked to you! We were in a White with blue Clackacraft. We didn't see anyone else fly-fishing though. Rod just got sent.

Nestucca report and a TFO shout out

My buddy and I decided to take the day off yesterday and fish the Nestucca. We had no delusions that we would have the river to ourselves being a weekday, but we were shocked by the amount of people who had the same idea! It was a zoo on a Thursday! The water was perfect color and level at right...

    Fishing rookie mistakes?

Keep changing things during the day if you're not having success; colors, size, types, lengths, patterns, scents etc. Sometimes fish will let 50 different patterns float by them and for some reason one will p*** em OFF!

Your favorite winter steelhead patterns for swinging

Definitely leeches, articulated egg sucking bunny leech, MOAL leech etc. Green butt skunk and purple peril are faves too. It depends on the water of course especially for the amount of flash.

    Coho spawners

I would love to have a huge print of that second shot hanging on my wall, beautiful!

    Butt hookin with a switch

I took casting lessons from Rob Crandall and it changed my life... What he taught me was the three parts to a spey cast: the D loop, the line stick and the 180 degree rule. If your casting is going wrong it is going to be 1-2 or all three of those things causing the problem. the different casts...

    Alsea post blow-out fishing

    Awesome quote!

    Steelhead reel

I've had the Shimano Citica for about 5 years and it seems to be pretty indestructible, light and smooth. I have never had a problem with it at all and I believe I paid about $130 for it. It has adjustable casting brakes and once I got it dialed in I can cast it a mile with light weights only...

Airflo Intermediate Skagit, any experience, thoughts?

Thanks Tony, you use a sink tip with that too? Makes sense though, the more I commit to swinging for fish the more I realize getting the fly down in the zone fast is the real battle.

    Ugly Stik

I would give someone catching a fish on a branch from the nearest tree with dental floss and a safety pin the highest regard and "river cred." I don't understand how so many of these threads devolve so fast. The original post was a respectable post about fishing in general and as happens too...

Airflo Intermediate Skagit, any experience, thoughts?

I'm interested in the Airflo Intermediate Skagit with the 6' of floating section at the rear. Anybody ever use that, I would love to hear some real world reviews. I wish I had the money to just go out and buy it to try but........ By the way I took spey casting classes with Rob Crandall a couple...
