Cold and lethargic... sounds like the perfect time to try some big bright silver spinners to wake 'em up

I'm heading out there on Friday. There's been no rain for a while. Lots of salmon are in their spawning zone. Are they still hangin' in the 'Slaw?

It's amazing what patience and good drag control can do. My other rod is geared for float-fishin' and it's medium-heavy with threaded line. I gotta get me another one of those geared up for spinner fishin', for sure.

The tug is definitely the drug. Feeling that much muscle fightin' the line and then, after a few moments of watching the line dart around the surface of the water, catching that first glimpse as it emerges from the depths and into view to reveal it's true girth... and it's on. I'm addicted...

My little boy and I went out fishin' on a whim and landed this amazing King. Largest fish I ever landed in a river. It definitely made for some serious happiness. My adrenaline is still kickin'.

Sounds like it'll be next weekend for the last shot at steelies on the Slaw...

Does that same reasoning apply even now? I wanted to drive out to Whittaker Creek tomorrow but it seems like it'll be super-merky.

I met 4 great guys on the Siuslaw today who were willing to teach a new dog old tricks. Dave was fly-fishin' and catchin' a lot of fish, Scott was spinnin', Robin and Mike were floatin'. Scott is there with the trout. Robin and Mike are are there with the buck that Mike caught. I got to hold it...

hmmm... hmmm... I'm gonna head out there tomorrow under warmer conditions and higher flows while more steelies are movin' and see what's shakin'. I was born and raised on spinners so it's a hard habit to break. At least I know that they work. Caught a silver and a steelie on the Yachats back...

I've been trying LC as a bank fisher with #4 gen. silver spinners and red tape, but nothin' doin'. Is there a better way? Do I just need to be patient?:think:
