"Stocked this week with 150 brood trout weighing from 8 to 15 pounds. These fish were released in Ponds #3 and #6" -- St. Louis Ponds
Taken from ODFW's Rec. report on their website. And there have been over 4k legal-2 pounders planted since September. Went with my bro a few weeks ago and limited out, a couple nice 14 inchers.
Anyway, with tomorrow looking decent I'm going out for the day. If anyone wants to come catch some fish and have a good time let's do it! I'll be heading out between 8 and 10, and I'll be staying all day. I have a propane heater to use.
The ponds are near Gervais, about 20 minutes north of Salem. To get there from Salem go north out River Rd, turn right on St. Louis Rd, and then turn right on Tesch Rd immediately after you cross the RR tracks. The gate is locked, but the ponds are open. It is a 3/4 mile walk on gravel to my favorite spot.
PowerBait fished 20 inches off the bottom produces all day, with the main bite being from 9 am till noon. All other methods work decent too. Good water for everything from casting spinners to fly fishing. The ponds also offer decent bass fishing.
If you want to meet up for a couple hours, or spend the day I'll be there. If you are interested in going PM me or post here with your number and I'll check back tomorrow morning about 7. If you come later in the day my number is 503-602-4860, or you can just look around the east end of Pond 6 for the kid with the heater.
