I caught a fat 12" searun cutthroat yesterday in the Necanicum...

As always, I checked out the stomach contents and found the remains of a shrimp and these two pearl-like objects. What are these?

it looks to me like some crustacean remains, but dfinately not sure

hard boiled egg?

Undigested "Mr Bill" parts?

An old sailors glass eye? Ewwww!

Look like half digested sea enemies.

thats crazy, ive only seen that one other time and it was in a non-searun rainbow up near oakridge on the willamette, im not sure what they are but.....the ones i had, had rings like a tree, almost layers, but reminded me of a jaw breaker...weird, send it to ODFW and see what they say

What part of the Necanicum? Up river by Klootchy, or the Tidewater area in Seaside? Just curious, I'm trying to get as much info on the Necanicum as I can.

Near tidewater, but above it.

Cool, thanks! Do you know how much longer the cutties are going to be in the Necanicum? I've looked online but there's not a lot of info on this small river.

It's part of the crayfish digestive tract, called a gastrolith (a stomach or gizzard stone).

I get these all the time in my fish tanks after I feed my fish crayfish.

That explains everything!

Googled "crayfish gastrolith" and found images where they had fossilized and turned into opals.
