I've been wanting to try new spots for smallmouth bass and was wondering if anybody has caught anything at Thunder Island by Cascade Locks? If so, anyone have any advice fishing out there?

Yes.
Advice? Read all of Bass's Reports. They are from a few miles away on the WA side. All the same stuff works on the Oregon side.
Be ready for wind. If you catch pikeminnow you can turn them in at the boat launch 2:00-4:00pm. Top water has been good at dawn and dusk when there is usually less wind. You have to pay for parking on port property, walk down from Wa Na Pa to save money. The Eastwind has giant ice cream cones. A kayak or SUP can be helpful.

Hey! I tried out your advice and I caught my biggest bass! I've fished around the channel between the island and the mainland with crankbait usually on the staircase. I've been there twice and my first time there at dusk, there was no wind and I noticed more activity. The second time I went there at dusk, was light to moderate wind with gust up to 11 mph and I got less bites than before. Does the wind affect the bites?Snopro said:
