or you can hold it above an open flame, just high enough to get the heat, but no so high to get the soot. give it a few seconds, and you'll see the transformation take place.

Do what Ninja said. Hold it about 1.5-2 inches above the flame from a candle, after coloring the blade with brown or black "stanford permanent markers".

Thank you for the replies. I just got a spinner maker and finished the book "What Fish See" by Dr Kageyama, so now I'm getting revved up for some marathon spinner making sessions. BC Angling Post just got another valued customer.
By the way if you've never read the book its worth it. Open it when your sitting in your bow stand around 11AM waiting for the late morning buck trot.
