Bottom fishing out of Sunset Bay, Oct.20Pepper and I 'punched' out of Sunset Bay on our Hobie Outback at first light looking for limits of lingcod and black rockfish.
Went out about 1 mile NW, past Baltimore Rock, some good rocky structure under the water out near there near the bouy but all I could find were cabezon, I landed and released 3 in about 20 minutes. Other boats also reported not finding any keeper lings. Ended up putting 5 nice black rockfish in the kayak (all caught on squid at the bottom); we ended up spending 4.5 hours on the ocean. Good outing and first test of new sand wheels (BooneDOX Landing Gear) and aluminum rudder (SAI Super Rudder). cheers, roger
