Streak has ended...

Bound to happen I guess...my last 6 consecutive fishing expeditions had me connect with a steelhead, but nothing touched today. Well, except for my elbow. I decided on a challenge to get another with the fly rod and after about an hour of working it, I connected a large weighted fly with my elbow! Buried the hook into the bone and it was stuck solid. Took some pliers and fortunately was able to work the hook free from the bone, and now it's just stuck in the flesh.

Since I had only one free hand, and the skin is very stretchy there, it took another 10 minutes to finally work the point all the way through to expose the barb. I spotted a guy further up river, so I walked up and he was kind enough to snip the barb OFF and I pulled the hook out.

Good times!

I called and told a buddy about it and he asked about a photo...doh! None and what a great photo op that was. Bummer about the missed opportunity for 'bragging' rights ;)

Yeah, picture or didn't happen! Lol.
I bet it was painful! Ouch!

All good things must come to an end, but at least you'll remember it.

Next time is always a new shot!

Waco knows about this...

My friend and I were fishing the Siletz once (like usual) and we went to cast and damn near stuck me with a Blue Fox. I damn near pushed him in the river haha

I have landed fish the last four trips buddy. when u gonna turn back on

Nice. I am trying to end a losing streak. 4 are still living another day. including a rowdy one this evening!!

Last summer smallmouth fishing got one on a shallow crank lipped him and he flipped a bit and burried the hook through my thumb. Hook still in fish and myself. That was a interesting time trying to unhook a fish and then myself. I feel your pain.

Irony was that the dr. decided since my last tetanus was when I was a kid, I needed an update. The arm that received the shot felt like I had been punched hard in the shoulder for 4 days, but the hooked elbow didn't really hurt at all. So the treatment felt worse than the injury.

Sure, kick a guy when he's down.

Well, April has been tough for me. Only one native on 4/10...and finally, another fish caught today at lunch:

Another native, but at least I haven't lost it completely :)
