My previous post discussed lure contrast such as anything that contrasts with nature, be it lure color and/or action. Here's a contrast based idea I had mulling around in my basement workshop.
I still have bags of glitter in my basement from the days I used to sell to lure makers/sellers. I just happened to notice how some gold-hologram flakes reflect colored specs of light in the lowest light. I figured that spinning blades reflect the most light from the surface facing the light source, but what about the lower surface or in less than bright light?
So, rather than use glue, I used a drop of nail polish, (color unimportant) sprinkled gold hologram glitter and let it dry. Once dry and glued, I brushed off the excess and saw a dot of different colors that sparkled when seen from different angles in dim light. The multicolored dots of light are more intense than the flash of the blade by itself.
willow leaf and small Colorado blades (camera shake killed the detail of the sparkle)
I can't wait to see what the spinning blade looks like in the water once the lakes thaw in Mar.!
No doubt fish will be provoked into striking holo glitter dots and lines against a dark background.
