so far this year from river fishing i have caught at least 100 trout. ranging any where from 4-16 inches.
i would say im off to a solid start.

I would say you are off to a good start too! I'm up there as well Just a reminder, Where ever trout are, steelhead may be there at some point in time!

Good question. You know what river i fish IDK bout him tho, he could be gettin a lot of smolts to

If the average fish you are catching is 4-7 inches long pushin 8 inches. there is a good chance they are smolt.

In local lakes I'm up to 60 since the first of april.

In rivers though it is hard to say without having a picture, but 4-7" fish are likely smolts....

I took 30 stockers today on a olive crystal wolley bugger. All were released even though it was a stocked lake. If I had kept the first five I would only have fished for five minutes. :lol: Man it was great.

Anything in rivers smaller than 8" is a sign it's time to move to another hole or maybe another river altogether.
