Rod Setup

Hi all!

I am trying to get set up for coho / fall chinook in the Columbia. My buddy says we’ll be casting spinners and was hoping i could get advice on a rod I might need.

So far for the various types of fishing I’ve got:

Okuma SST 9’ Medium power, medium action 8-17 lbs

SST 9’6” medium power, medium fast action 8-17 lbs

I also picked up some rods for plunking, 10’6” extra heavy casting rods.

Will any of these work for targeting coho or do I need another rod? (Hope not… 😅)

The 9' SST should be good. My buddy pulled a summer steelhead from Dahl Park with that same rod and a 4000 sized spinning reel the other day (casting spinners). I use a 8'6" myself. The 10'6" is great for plunking anywhere on the Columbia, perhaps even the Bonneville area.

Excellent news, thanks for your advice!
