Made my way over to the Deschutes friday, went to sleep early, woke up at 4:30 and found myself standing on the bank in the dark waiting for the light to come up.
As soon as I could see what I was doing I was into fish immediately.
Big black stones were the main producers and I ended up releasing 20+ trout and 4 whiteys over the weekend.
there were two fish that were notable and I managed to get a couple photos, there's never a photographer around when you need one....
A very well fed specimen:

and the biggest of the weekend, a touch over 21 inches:

he took the nymph 'brandon' tied for the spring fly swap:

It was a good start to the 2012 season.
