put in at spores and drifted to harrisburg this weekend, camped out on a sweet beach among the poppies and lupine.Awesome weather, good food(fried fresh lincod)and a few nice cutties to boot! Saw some salmon or steelies running up a riffle about three inches deep in the middle of the day, kinda strange as they had the whole deeper part of the river to run.Anyone know what may cause this unusual behavior?

That's interesting, I've seen carp do that in the Willamette but never salmon or steelhead. That's a nice stretch to float.

Summer Steelhead hold, and hangout in those riffles. Chances are they were just going back and forth through it. They need the highly oxygenated water, because of the higher river temps.
