Great looking fish! I'm not from Oregon and was just curious is this time of year decent for steel in west/central oregon?

troutdude
Hi Sparty, welcome to OFF.

Yes. This is the Prime time for winter steelhead in western Oregon; and on into March for some rivers.

Being from the Midwest the fishing season is maybe 6-8 weeks long, at most, in the great lakes tribs during the spring and fall. Winter fishing is tough. So can you succesfuly fish for for steel all year long aside from a few summer months?

troutdude
Actually, we have very healthy Summer runs too. The summer runs typically kick into gear, as as the Winter runs are done.

We also have Fall and Spring Chinook runs too. And Springers are already being caught in the Columbia!
