So I finally have it all together.

7' 6" Redington 4wt. (I will likely upgrade to a longer 5wt at some point but already had this rod).

Okuma reel

Waders

Float Tube (I like smaller mountain lakes so tube works best for me).

Assorted flies and equipment.

I am now ready to hit the water. My buddy and I were thinking about breaking in the new tube on Burnt Lake this weekend so I thought I would ask if anyone had an idea of what patterns work best.

I can't wait to start flogging some water.

What do you have for a line to use? Float, sink, etc.??? If you have a sinking line then fish a size #10 olive wooly bugger and use a moderate strip retrieve of about 4"-6". If you just have a floating line then fish a size #14 weighted Hare's Ear nymph, or a weighted size #14 Soft Hackle pattern. Use a leader about 25% longer than the depth you are fishing and let the patterns sink to the bottom then do a very slow retrieve.

It will take ya awhile to get the hang of stillwater but learning is half the fun!

I currently have a floating line but was considering switching to an intermediate sinking line.

No info on Burnt Lake but would love to hear how you guys fair when you get back!
