Looking for information on the spring chinook

Hello,
I will be in the area in early April (4/4/20 to 4/10/20) and was trying to determine if I would be able to attempt to fish for Spring Chinook from shore at the mouth of the Alsea River. Needing information the ODWF rules as well as what lures to use?

Glen B.

I'm pretty sure there is no spring run on the Alsea. You could probably still find steelhead on the Siletz which isn't too far from the Alsea.

Sorry but the Alsea is NOT open for Chinook, until August 1st. But the Siletz is open for Chinook then: Two adult Salmon per day bag limit, ONLY ONE WILD salmon per day/only two wild fish per season.

Thank You for all the help..

Ok, after reading your post about "the spring steelhead" I'm thinking maybe walking the beach for agates might be more suitable

That is my plan. Avoid the crowds, leave the frustration behind.

Yeah, I have been surf perch fishing, it is always a strong contender.
