After looking at this site for years, I'm here to finally participate! Got out this Monday on the Miami and absolutely hammered the Chums, which was nice because they were my first Salmon. Bummer that they only let you keep two a day : ( Good smokers for sure though, and great eggs so I can hopefully get into these Kings people are talking about.

Anyone else doing any good?

Chum are never legal to keep in oregon. Also none should have been any quality for eating. You are mistaking chums for kings (chinook) consider yourself lucky you didn't get caught and don't put pics up that will get you into trouble. If you want to keep fish there are still chinook available in the kilchis and wilson systems for sure.

Whoops. Won't happen again :blushing: I was wondering why there wasn't a code to mark Chum! 2 More extra spots for the tag though, right!?

actually, the code for Chum is "3", which is used for Pink and Sockeye also, but having a code for tagging a fish is irrelevant to retaining that species...fine for improper retention is like $600!

real fishermen learn the regs. and do it right!

I must have missed that update to the regs...I thought Chum salmon were C&R only.

Is trolling a term for a fishing technique that implies snagging? It doesn't look like you could troll the Miami. Maybe the entrance in bay, and it doesn't seem likely that you'd snag one.

Hi all,

OnTheDrop here. After looking at this site for years, I'm here to finally participate! Got out this Monday to Cedar Creek to do some fishing and maybe see if there were any windows I could get my tongue on. Saw some people walking down a trail with fishing rods, but I concentrated on fishing right there near the parking lot. There were some big concrete tanks that had TONS of fish in them! The fish were small, but were pretty good eaten raw/alive. Too bad they only let you keep 15 buckets full

The big takeaway from this thread though for me is how troutmasta caught the minor inconsistency in your story (that chums do have a code)..that's some Sherlock Holmes stuff right there
