Game hides?

I was wondering if anyone knows about a place that uses game hides for leather. Back in my hometown we had a recycling plant that would take our hides and make leather products out of them and for every hide we turned in we would get a free pair of insulated leather gloves. Is there anything like that in the Portland area?

Thanks
Jesse

There's a place on foster road that does that I think.

there was a place on 13th st in salem. they would trade your hides for new gloves. better than wasting them. Brian

That place on 13th Street in Salem is called "Oregon Glove Company", It used to be one pair of gloves per hide, deer skin gloves for a deer hide and elk skin gloves for an elk hide. Been a number of years since I turned in a hide though.

Last year I gave them a elk hide and I got 2 pairs of gloves!!!

I'm not sure if it's still around, but there used to be a leather company in Old town on 2nd I believe. Right near the old Hung Far Low.
