Fished the Wilson yesterday from about 9-2. Started out at Jones Creek bridge and worked my way downstream along the trail. Hit a good looking stretch about 1/4 mile down from the forestry center, drifted past a rock on my first cast, and hooked a beautiful native. Put up an awesome fight. Managed to bring it to the bank in my comically undersized net, snapped a quick pic, and sent it on its way relatively unharmed. Drove downstream to where the road crosses the river about a mile up from Kansas Creek Rd. Second cast, and I see the bobber rise a bit, stop, and start moving slowly upstream. Set the hook and fought it out with a bright hatchery fish in the 5-6 lb range. This is my first season of steelhead fishing, glad to finally get on the board!
