Electric Boat Motor Suggestions?

Hey all. Happy salmon season.

I recently adopted (?) or inherited (?) a neighbor’s old skiff. It’s got a 60s era Johnson outboard that doesn’t like to idle. I’m debating tinkering on it (maybe just an old gunked up fuel line or bulb?), but also curious about electric options in order to:

1) Move on from polluting the air with bad exhaust (stinky), and
2) Enjoy the quiet of a river/lake/bay, which is why I love fishing in the first place.

Anybody here run with an electric boat motor? I’d love any suggestions or ideas in the 3-5HP range. Can’t seem to find any that are even somewhat affordable (less than $1,000).

Thanks for the tips and hope you all have a safe and productive fall season.

Congrats on the new to you skiff.

Here's a thought. I think you'd find a recent 3-5 HP 4 stroke outboard would be, "check to see if it's running" quiet, and very non stinky compared to a 60's vintage motor. You could probably find a used one for less than 1k. On the other hand, a 3-5 HP electric + battery system+ charger will be in the 3k range and offer much lower run time.
