Dexter Reservoir

Spent several hours on Dexter on Sunday (until the water-skiers ran me off). Lots of clumpy algae in the water. Picked up 3 Pike minnows at the east end of the lake and 2 nice rainbows out in the middle at about noon (14 & 17 inches) at the same time, then nothing. Trolling Spinners with worms and crawfish scent. I've done better and I've done worse on Dexter. Where did all the Kokanee go?

ODFW is stocking Dexter this week sometime. Has anyone heard an update or know where I can get one?

I tried out Dexter on Tuesday. There's a lot branches and logs in the water. Trolled for 3 hours and not a nibble. Checked with the camp host and he had no luck bottom fishing from the dock. They did stock the lake last week...twice. Could be there's plenty of food washed down from upstream and the fish are still acclimating.

Hit Dexter yesterday afternoon. Lots of fish on the screen. We picked up 7 trout between 1 and 4:30. Lots of lost hookups! 4 large pike minnows we left for the birds. Guess what! There’s a parking fee of $10 a day at the Dexter launches now. Prepare for tons of cars parked on the side of the road next summer. I don’t know if Lookout Res has it too. Annual fee is $30 or $50 for 2 years. Sucks but it is what it is.
