My dad got a bamboo rod at a garage sale that's about 7 to 7.5 ft long. It's hexagonal shaped and has just one eyelet at the tip of the rod. He wants to know what it was made to be used for...anybody know?

Tenkara rod, that's my first thought

That was my thought also. It could also be a cannibalized fly rod with only one eye left..
I looked up tenkara rods and it's not that exactly. The one eye is on the tip "inline" with the rod. Not perpendicular. It's very stout too. I'll try to get a pic of it soon.

If it has a reel seat its a fly rod. if none is found its a tenkara pole. Tony
