Welcome aboard, Sawyer! It's a brute of a fish! :thumb: I would guess you were on one of the coastal streams from the background. I think the Alsea is my favorite coastal water, mainly because that is the only one I've had much luck fishing. 
It's true, you aren't required to disclose your location, but, it never hurts to ask. And, it certainly never hurts to help out a newbie, that is what OFF is all about.
