Central coast razors and...

a nice hard shell 6 1/8" crab that got caught in a 'puddle' when the tide went out. I always carry a measuring stick and I only harvest crabs that want to fight and pinch me.

A feisty crab on the beach is a tasty crab! A lethargic crab is seagull food.

Great week to get out and dig some clams!

Is the crab protecting the razor haul? Keeps you from getting too close to a daily razor?

coastal clouds hid the eclipse from us but not the post-eclipse moon set at 6am this morning...

I'm still looking at giving the clams a go come Wednesday.
It's still a maybe because my buddy has had back spasms that he says are getting better, and he hopes to be ready by then.

Wednesday weather isn't ideal but gusty winds are fine (maybe not fun). Heavy rain is what you want to avoid as it can hide all the clam shows.

The site I use for most of my crab trips says rain at 8AM, but I'm hoping it's only light until after we've had a chance to at least harvest a few clams at least.

Be a shame to end up skunked on my first try.
But such is the nature of the wild harvesting.
I'll live with it either way.

Ah well, Tomorrow is out.
I had forgotten that my daughter is flying to N.C from Portland in the morning, and she normally acts as my alarm clock to get me up for fishing excursions.
I'm far too deaf to use an alarm clock and don't have one of those bed shakers.
Then my partner also begged off, saying he was afraid his back problems would not allow it.
So for us, it looks like next month around the 17th to give it a try.
