I stuck this in the fly forum since Van posts here more, feel free to move it mods!
Got out with van today for some carp action. It didn't take him long to get into some fish.
That bugger had a serious belly! The fish were spawning, so this wasn't glory carping...no long casts or tough fights, instead, we snuck right up to em, stuck a fly in their face and a few ate.
Spawning carp (as in actively spawning carp) won't eat...but if you hand the ones resting a sandwich, they eat that. The trick is finding the resting fish and making it easy for them to eat. We managed a pretty good haul of fish under those conditions...
