Ever the lightning rod for controversy but you got me beat. Spent ten hours out there Saturday with nothing to show but a bunch of trout. Way to go.

15-17 lbs? You may want to have your scale calibrated...I doubt they weighed that much put together...just sayin....

ohhhh boy. Wish this forum had one of the popcorn dude smileys.

Was thinking the same thing. Maybe 12-13 on the bigger one but 15-17 is kinda reachin'.

x3 I know you haven't gotten a lot of love on the forum JD but jeez.

id say that's 12-13

because this weighed 15.57 on scale:

Give him a break guys; he's a kid. You rip on him, for not posting pics. Then when he does post pics, you rip on him for "improper" fish handling. These are the very reasons that we have lost many good fisherpeeps, from this forum.

Instead...why not let him know that there better/safer ways to handle a fish, for release, instead of just raking him over the coals? Then, tell him how to correctly handle a fish--that will greatly improve it's chances to survive. We know those things; but he doesn't.

Well, now you know JD. You did a GOOD thing, to release it. But putting your hands/fingers into it's gills, greatly DIMINISHES it's chances to survive after the release. If you want it to have a chance to live: tail it with one hand, and rest your palm under it's belly with the other (behind and below the gills). Snap the pic quickly, and then revive the fish in the water before releasing it's tail.

Good luck on your next outing. Hopefully, you'll still be willing to post your reports and pics.

I can do that. Can you show me an example of smileys you're talking about?

Nice!! Except that I think the face palm one is where the smiley takes his hand, smacks his face with it and leaves a red hand print on his face. hahahahahahaha

P.S. And well stated TD!!! Nice fish there JD, both of them. Just remember to handle it as you would a baby. You wouldn't stick you hand in the baby's mouth to hold it, right. Same thing here, treat it with finesse if you plan on releasing it. Just a word of advise. Take care and good luck next time man!

woo hoo, we got us the popcorn smiley!

3 cheers to RWS for 'bending' the thread slightly and Anatoliy for adding to our tacklebox...

From what iv heard about hatchery fish maybe it was a good thing he put his hands in its gills before the release...
