Summer steelhead fishing has been pretty solid so far this season. Ive hooked onto 7 fish in the last month. This is the one i caught last night. 6.5 lbs 27 inches
welp , i hooked onto a really nice summer today in eugene on a spoon and it bent my hook out. Jumped a couple times got a nice look at it. Good sign for this summer, in the future i will always change my hooks out to siwashes now lol. Guess it was fun to shake hands with one this early in season
After trying random stuff for a couple years and failing, i finally caught a few this season on only beads. Long, 4-5 ft leader under a float with a couple small split shots 18-24 inch above the bead. Try and get the bead close to bottom. Hope this helps. I Had the most luck on an orange 14mm bead
you are right, but just out of curiosity have you ever caught a winter run on the middle fork willamette? really hoping after this years coho and winter run we get a decent summer run for once lol
Caught my first winter steelhead this January on the Alsea, finally getting the hang of things. Me and my one friend have caught 3 fish in our last 2 trips just off the bank. Seems like a solid year so far.
Im looking to toss some big spinners off the bank for chinook in the tidewater of the siuslaw, wondering if any of you OFF members have any tips to help me catch my first chinook! Im planning on just going out there with a 9 foot rod and throwing some #5 and #6 spinners. Is there any type of...
will do. the only gripe i have about my set up right now is my 30# tuffline braid seems to make more noise coming through the guides than im used to when i reel in. Not sure if it has to also do with the reel but ill eventually have to try a different braid maybe in 20# to see if it helps.
I just picked up a berkley im8 9'6" 8-12 lb rod and paired it with a pflueger president xt 3500. 140 dollars and seems really solid combo for the price.
yeah ive been looking at the x11 because they have a few of them at my local bi mart right now for only 80 bucks. i think i might just get a 8-12 lb 9'6" x11 and maybe a little 7 foot ultralight celilo trout rod instead of just going with a more expensive steelhead rod. seems like a good deal
Im fairly new to steelhead fishing and am looking to upgrade my rod and reel setup to something nicer. Been using a 40 dollar combo from bi mart and its pretty bad. Im looking at the guide select pro rod in either a 6-12 pound ML or 8-17 pound M setup. What line rating and rod length do you...
Its a pretty pressured spot but if you really just want to catch some steelhead go to the bottom of dexter dam where the disc golf park is and cast pretty much any type of shrimp out on a bobber setup. If you can get the spot closest to the dam its pretty good. Make sure to bring a net because...
Just picked up fly fishing recently and caught this beautiful redside trout on the mckenzie river earlier this evening with a dry fly. Was 18-19 inches and really put my 6 wt rod to work. Was an awesome experience.
