All purpose? I see fly tying. Can you rebuild a carburetor on it? 😀

The mouth of the Rogue was crowded this morning...

We were duck hunting at K Falls a number of years ago, and were settling in before dawn. There was another group somewhere out in the dark, and he was having problems with his dog, and cursing up a storm. During a break in the tyrade, my buddy called out, “you really shouldn’t talk to wife like...

The mouth of the Rogue was crowded this morning...

I’d go just to watch the entertainment at the boat ramp.

    Thick and Froggy

Still biting on the Umpqua. I hooked 33 this morning, and quit to eat lunch. All sizes. This was the picture worthy one.

    Thick and Froggy

I fished the Umpqua yesterday morning, and actually got tired of catching smallmouth. Around 50 fish in two hours, on Senko worm. Fish are full of crawdads.

    Umpqua Smallies 2023 (Pic Heavy)

It hit 98 degrees that day in Roseburg. We fished until 8:00 am, starting at 6:00 am. Then home to the AC! 😀

Any of these rod/reels better than others?

Take the two outfits with the cork handles. Probably need new line, depending on history. The others might be a good project to clean up and keep as spares, or give to neighbor kids.

    Vintage rod question

Can’t see the guides, but the reel seat looks like a spinning rod. Probably needs a Mitchell 300 to be period correct. 😀

    Glass- 7’6” 3wt

I have a couple Eagleclaw Featherweight 3 wt fly rods. These are traditional all fiberglass rods. I use them to catch crappie on the local lake. Fun rod with small fish.

    Umpqua River smallmouth bass fishing

Umpqua Landing ramp. I go upstream to the base of Leatherwood rapids and drift back to the ramp. I fish plastic stick baits, rigged wacky, with a dropshot sinker. Change size and color, depending on the day. Ultralight spinning gear.

    Umpqua River smallmouth bass fishing

I took the driftboat out yesterday morning. River hasn’t changed much. I caught 3 fish in the first 4 casts, and thought it is going to be a good day. After about a dozen fish the first hour, the wind came up, and the bite turned off. The wind pushed the driftboat all over, and after an hour...

    Help me pick a boat!

You must not be from around here. 😀 Sleds and Jet Sleds are aluminum river boats, made by North River, Alumaweld, Willie Boats, etc. Easy way to spend $50,000-$100,000, for a 18-20’ boat. They are made for big rivers, and can handle white water.

What to bring for a state-wide fishing trip?

Sounds like you have a good selection of tackle. You might want to do some research on techniques for different species. Check YouTube. Drifting jigs or softbeads under a bobber for steelhead, for example. I caught my last steelhead on a large casting spoon. The fish of a thousand casts.😀...

    Shellfish license?

It looks like ODFW sells a three day non-resident shellfish license for $19. You don’t need an angling license. BiMart should be able to sell you one.
