    Prineville Res.

They have been getting bigger and bigger as the water got lower and lower. Last spring I still managed to get my inflatable out there and they were good sized. How do you fish for them in winter conditions?

    Youtuber fishing closed water?

I watched it yesterday and added some comments. Video is gone now. Hopefully he is too.

    Middle Deschutes/ Bend

I run a purple haze with a Tenkara rod through some pockets there when I bike by. Always good for a little rainbow or two. Good luck.

no Well maybe one or two, but most of the year it is bone dry. Any place easy to get to will be over run with people this week. If you really need a close and fast place to go, a beer at Worthy brewing might be the best option..

Can someone help me find a handicap accessible fishing spot?

The Chimney Rock platform is fairly well placed, and a nice spot to hang out. Long drive but a beautiful canyon. I would think with a fly and bubble on a spinning rod you could catch some fish there. The fish in that pool all have an eating disorder.

Looking for a lake or stream to hike up to.

So, if you don't carry that stuff, maybe you can hike a bit farther..... "human-bear incidents are rare in the state, according to officials. There have only been four previously reported incidents in the state since 1988, none of them fatal, ODFW said"

    Oregon fishing bucket list

Here's a Prineville haul, taken with a fly rod from a float tube. May through early June they are shallow, and the herd needs the thinning. Nikita, good work, but how do you clean a load that big????

    Summit Lake?

My Tacoma always handled the road just fine. A camper van was not so great. Good luck up there!

    The Best knot

I wonder how many failures were slips, not breaks. Their example was from a 2X tippet.... I find in thicker line the Davy slips, so I do a double Davy-an extra wrap to finish.

    The Best knot

From the Yellowstone Tippet Shootout: "The Davy knot was developed for one purpose – speed. In fly fishing competitions, lost time means lost fish, and often lost competition. Once you practice this knot it can literally be tied in a few seconds. Once your muscle memory is trained, you can...

    Summit Lake?

The road is indeed nasty, though I got a 4x4 Sprinter van through. Would drive around rather than do it again. Not many fish, a bit of an evening hatch and a scruffy rainbow or two. It is a gorgeous, but low nutrient mountain lake, and would be wonderful if you could figure out the mediocre...

Anyone else tired of Oregon's prejudice against bait fishing?

Do you have any actual data on this? A study done on striped bass in salt water showed the hook dissolution to be far slower than that, and often fatal: "After 120 days, 78 percent of the hooks remained in the stripers, including fish that died. In the second test which ran for 60 days...

Is steelhead fishing all about knowing where they are?

I went to a popular area last year on a really slow day. I only saw one fish caught, and by good luck, it was mine. I came home and talked to friend who knows the area well. He was able to guess exactly where I hooked it.

This one was special in that it weighed as much as the inflatable boat we caught it from:
