This might be a stupid question.

Indeed, its how my grandpa used to fish for steelies back home. Come to think of it, it wasn't until i moved here that i even heard of people curing eggs...funny how methods change from one part of a country to another.

This might be a stupid question.

If you want to use eggs "o'naturale" then i would recommend getting yourself some spawn net and magic thread, twist some clumps up into a net, tie it off and put it on your hook that way. Without curing that will be the only way to get your eggs to stay on the hook.

Isn't salmon fishing from a boat boring? What's your opinion?

I'm not as old as a lot of the guys on the forums here, but when my arthritis starts acting up i start envying those guys sitting in their boats. Still, id rather be limping through a river in my waders than dealing with the hustle of city life and crowded streets, and especially work! But...

I copied and pasted from your link. Right up at the top.

Finally landed me a Chinook! (or 2)

Hey guys i kind of feel like a jerk for pointing this out, but I figure i should anyways. These regulations apply to wild, non fin-clipped chinook salmon from Aug. 1 – Dec. 31 except as noted below. Bag limits for Chinook jacks remain unchanged as described in 2010 Oregon Sport Fishing...

    Success!

Sorry again Beaverfan, had i waited for ya i wouldnt have went just because i would have talked myself out of it and into doing something else. Oh and i had caught all 4 by about 9 anyway, spent a few hours hoping to get a keeper after but the bite was off and my knee started acting up so i...

    Success!

As far as i know there isn't any hatchery release on the Wilson, but there is on a river close to it..Kilchis or Nehalem i think. The first 2 of the day i caught low on the river, first at Windy Rock (that's what ive been told it's called, it's the hole below the RV park), and the second at the...

Steelhead fishing around Newberg, Sherwood, Tigard areas?

I tend to make the trip out to the Wilson, it's an hour and a half-ish but there is tons of bank access all along the river.

What TV fishing show host would you like to fish with?

My vote would have to go to Jeremy Wade from River Monsters. I would love to hook into some of the fish i've seen him catch on that show.

    New rod/reel, but what line?

Ok so i swapped over to the 8'6" medium action, put 8lb Pline CXX on the reel and think it's ready to go. Got the smaller baitcaster from my buddy and put 4lb Floroclear from Pline on it for the trout. Should be good to go now

Pick up after yourself and others.

When i go grocery shopping i bag my stuff with plastic. When i'm done the bags go into my storage closet, when i go fishing, i bring a few of the plastic bags with me just to pack out garbage.

    New rod/reel, but what line?

Hmm...i do have an 8'6" medium rod i purchased with salmon in mind, but apparently i'm thinking too small of fish.... I can swap the reel over to that one and go with 8lb line, then look for something with more backbone for salmon. Would that be a wiser idea? A buddy is going to give me a...

    New rod/reel, but what line?

I did want a longer rod, but my wallet told me to go another direction...so i have to work with what i can afford. The line weight of the rod is 2-6 (I think, i'm not at home right now), which is why i was thinking something in the 6lb area.

    New rod/reel, but what line?

Ok folks, ive got me a new fishing pole and a new baitcaster, but i need to slap some line on it. I know i do not want braid, so i'm trying to figure out what line to use. This is the first pole and reel ive purchased purely with steelhead in mind. Fishing Pole: 7' Ugly Stick Ultra Light...
