    Looks like Wickiup has rebounded

A friend of mine, that lives on the east side of the mountains sent me similar news. Folks were using wedding rings and landing 18-to-16-inch kokes! Glad it's back.

    Crab basics

Have to agree with that. Salmon for bait in the bays does draw those fir bags in. For ocean crabbing they work well.

    Crab basics

You guy are right. September, October November and December are the months to get crabs. That is when they are hard shelled and full of meat. Fresh salmon heads and fileted carcass work great for bait. This is a late September Ocean haul just south of the Columbia River Bar.

    It’s time to get serious

At one time I had a 16' Clackacraft drift boat and a 24' Offshore Duckworth. Both were great boats for their designed purpose. It did drive me a bit crazy using one boat or the other and know the other was just sitting at home. When I finally stopped ocean fishing, I sold them both and went...

    Limit change at Paulina Lake

After fishing for Kokanee with hardware and slow trolling we like to switch to fly gear for trout. I've tried trolling Rapalas and the like for the big browns and a few rooster tails but end up going back to fly gear. The trout will have to wait until I finish my afternoon nap though. Seems...

    Chilly in Eugene

Chilly in Sandy too. It was down to 8 degrees on the front porch thermometer. Wood stove kept us warm and comfortable. Have a son in Montana, it was -44 at his place. Must be good ice fishing up there!;)

    Washington proposed carp fishing change

Good point. Carp, shad, brook trout, brown trout, and walleye are all invasive species. Here is a link to the growing crawdad invasive species problem. https://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/2011/3132/

125 brood trout to be stocked in Blue Lake, but no access to them since the park is closed till spring

The whole south side of the lake is loaded with homes off Interlachen Ln. Most of those houses have docks reaching out into the lake. Those fish might be gone lone before spring. I do not know of any public access to the lake except the park. Perhaps it might be worth investigating. I do...

U.S. Government Sets a Path to Breach the Four Lower Snake River Dams

Right Rodger. My point was more that there will be major opposition to removal of these dams. If Oregon and Washington were to get serious about restoring the heath of the Columbia River Salmon runs, they would start by forbidding gillnetting on the Columbia. I have ventured to Salem and...

    Ocean crabbing Dec.13

Excellent. Should be plenty of meat in those winter crabs. Must admit was impressed with the whole operation and especially you balance!

    Limit change at Paulina Lake

Paulina Lake prior to 1912 did not have a fish population. The first fish were introduced in July of 1912. They were rainbow trout. Since then, brook and brown trout along with kokanee have joined the rainbows. It's now a great place to fish once the snow clears. The change for the 2024...

    Spare change anyone

Wow....Think I would rather have the deer antler vice in The Curtis Creek Manifesto. A lot cheaper, and homemade:whistle:. Sheridan Anderson had some great ideas.

    Johnson's Beach Fly

Nice fly. It looks similar to a stimulator, an all-time favorite during the salmon fly hatch on the Deschutes.
