    2025 Steelhead Show OFF

Well I stopped winter fishing early this year. Probably mid to end January. Just didn't feel like going out in the cold and rain with the massive crowds. Decided today to finally go up to my summer steelhead stomping ground. There's been a few fish over willamette falls. Not as good as last...

    2025 Steelhead Show OFF

One more today in the rain. Another nice winter fish. That's 3 this year that are bigger than any other winter fish I've caught in 10years or so. Usually I get the typical 26"-29" 5-8lb fish. This one was almost 32". Big fat hen with really big egg skeins. Not as dramatic as a fight as the one...

    2025 Steelhead Show OFF

Great morning! Found a spot i like that was unoccupied. That's task 1 in itself now days. First cast and my bobber went down but it popped up right before I was about to swing. I knew it was a fish though and on my 3rd cast it took it again. Nice little bright native hen and I let her go. Only...

That sucks about the boat. Is there a story about it or a lesson to be learned? Asking for a hopefully soon to be boat owner (at least by next year)....

    2025 Steelhead Show OFF

Yeah but if I was catching fish like the one in your photo above I wouldn't care if they were all natives! That's a monster steelhead. The fish i got is definitely a byproduct of the broodstock program on my home river. Ive been hearing of a few more decent fish the last several years but most...

Best steelhead I've caught in a long time and one of my biggest winters.

    2024 Salmon Show OFF

If this is where I think it is, I've been down there a few times trying without any luck. Good job. Ive only ever fished there the few times recently so still trying to figure out where they are. Haven't even seen any jumping or rolling though..

Buddy missed a BEAST of a fish at Green Peter today!

Land locked salmon have been in there a long time. ODFW has known about it for a long time as stated in the article. Its even been in the regulations for YEARS that you can't keep them. They are just now trying to find out how there are wild ones in there with the hatchery ones.

    Cut,cut, cut.

As much as it sucks, if they want to change the bag limit for the season to 5, fine, but why the change to 1 a day. Not everyone lives on the coast and it sucks to make a trip for the chance at 1 fish only then pack it in and go home... honestly I'd rather make 2 trips and tag my 2 each day for...

    Bank fishing Alsea bay/tidewater...

Oh nice. I managed to find an article from near a decade ago and there is a photo of a guy holding a coho on the beach with the bridge in the background. I think it said something about high tide being the best time? I'll head over that way in a couple weeks and do some exploring and see what...

    Bank fishing Alsea bay/tidewater...

Thanks. Yeah I saw Lindly park on the map and figured I'd give that a shot as there isn't much else obvious just looking at Google earth... I really wish they would have given the alsea a season that went to at least mid October.

    Bank fishing Alsea bay/tidewater...

Anyone know if people bank fish in the bay at all or if there's any bank access in tidewater. I usually fish up river after the first rains but with the forcast for September showing near no rain and them setting the dates for coho for the last half of September only I think my only shot at a...

    Salmon numbers over Willamette falls

Man the numbers over willamette falls is pretty bleak compared to previous years. Even had 1 salmon and 2 steelhead go back down. Not looking good for those of us that fish the santiams.

    South Santiam

The south is open year round for hatchery steelhead. Salmon season is open now but closes end of August . There aren't any salmon up there yet. Trout opens May 22nd and closes Oct 31st. As for spots. All around the hatchery is popular and its not the combat fishing it used to be at all. Because...
