Why such a closely guarded secret?

What's available for RV'ers? I have an old 22' that I picked up this year. It's great but it does limit a person to fishing the immediate vicinity or the RV site.

Why such a closely guarded secret?

At the heart of all this...including the OP...is a serious misunderstanding--that it is the locations which are important. Nothing could be further from the truth. Two things pertain: First, if you are willing to put forth the personal effort and dedication to learn (both instantly...

Why such a closely guarded secret?

Well, I'm sorry to hear that but of course your question wasn't about his (or her?) motives) but about why these things are held so closely to the vest...in general. I might observe...share, really...that the fellow that mentored me didn't need me for anything. He was perfectly happy fishing...

Why such a closely guarded secret?

Well, that's what the situation in much of the UK is...and no one but wealthy landowners can afford to fish. Just saying...

Why such a closely guarded secret?

I may be wrong...I don't own a cell phone...but don't you have to set your camera to record EXIF data? I know that's the case on my old Fujitsu.

Why such a closely guarded secret?

Because there are more and more people wanting to take up flyfishing every day. Aside from the obvious scenario where someone who has fished a run for years suddenly finds himself crowded out, there is an increasing pressure on the fish as well. And one other thing...while I have your...

    Rugged Creek switch rod?

I'd be interested in hearing from someone who has had experience with this rig as well.

New to fly fishing, where to go within 75 miles of Beaverton

Good advice all in all, but I'm not so sure about snapping the rod, esp. when it comes to two-handed rod that are rated for a 5/6. The main thing is that you won't have enough backbone to land a larger fish before lactic acid build-up guarantees that it will die...even if released.

New to fly fishing, where to go within 75 miles of Beaverton

How do you come up with these maps? A search on Google? What keywords are you using? Can you narrow the maps down to be more flyfishing specific? Is that book going to explore or list runs on major rivers such as the N. Santiam or the Wilson? Runs that are suitable for flyfishing more than for...

    Two-handed?

Thank you for that. I quit tying about the same time I quit fishing...for much the same reason. But I had some good stuff. I used to tie everything with polar bear and seals fur--nature's own optic fibers. The guy that mentored me gave me some interesting material and hooks as well. I had some...

    Two-handed?

Good advice...someone gave me very similar (if not identical advice :D ) on another forum...I know I have a lot to learn. And, thank you for the invite...I'd like that.

    Two-handed?

Thank you for the welcome. I bought Skagit Master I & II--that's my homework for this weekend (while I'm waiting for the flyshop to pull everything together for me) and then I hope to get out to a nearby pond for some practice casting. I'm about 80 miles from Maupin and of course the good water...

    Two-handed?

I am just getting back into flyfishing after a 10 year + hiatus. I am only 5'8" and had been fishing 10 foot rods for steelhead for many years. Eventually it got to me (shoulders and neck) and I just couldn't do it anymore...ended up having periodic cortisone shots for a year or two. When I was...

    Two-handed?

So what rods are most people using? Switch rods? The longer Spey rods? Is it Scandi lines or Skagit? Or something else? And most importantly, with regard to chromes, what rivers is everyone fishing?

    Two-handed?

Anyone into switch rods or spey rods on this forum?
