I second what ninja said, The coastal river I fish for steelhead has very limited backcasting room in a lot of spots.
I bought a 10'6" beulah 7 wt switch and lined it with a 450 grain compact skagit, a wallet of sink tips for swinging and when I want to indi fish I spool up the 9 weight floating...
I was there Saturday morning and it was high, fast, and muddy, it looks like a completely different river from what I saw Saturday and the pics you posted.

I wish I could have made it earlier in the week I heard it was some good action, I know coffenberry lake got 500 of the "trophy" trout stocked there about the same time as lost lake, I might try there in a day or 2.

I think your right about the fish not lasting long there, with that many people and a nice weekend I'm sure they are thinned out now.....was a fun day.
same thing going on here on the necanicum river just a touch in from the mouth, Cohos jumping like crazy but not going after any of the spinners or any other harware I've thrown at em.
Ive tried some eggs and sand shrimp to no avail, not sure what to try next.
