So i took my kids fishing here for the second time and we finally caught our first freshwater fish. We're from Hawaii so we fished a lot of reef fish so the transition to freshies have been a journey but one that's hopefully paying off. We found what was working for the day by accident. I rig each of my two kids' poles with different baits and mine different as well - 3 poles, 3 different baits. Well i rigged my daughter's pole with a 4" red curly tail and a salmon egg. She was having trouble casting so i casted out for her and whack, Fish On. Or like we say in Hawaii, Hanapa'a. She landed it n i rigged my pole the same n threw mine out and hanapa'a again. My son hooked up last but still got his fish. We are all so excited and can't wait til next Sunday to go again.

If anyone has tips and tricks they'd like to share, its greatly appreciated. Aloha.
