What kind of temps is it in February? Around here February is usually 32° and below. I'm a hearty guy but not enough to sleep outdoors in below freezing weather. The best I could do would be low 40's. I could deal with that.

The problem with that is I lost my drivers license because of a no insurance accident. I won't have my license back till early 2016. I suppose I could wait till then and just drive out there.

Another question, if any of you have time when I do come out to show me the ropes of west coast steelheading that would be awesome. I will be bringing my own gear. I think I should have everything I would need.

For $90 you did good in my opinion. The 30# line is to much and you would be better off switching that out for 10 or 12#, I personally use 10# power pro slick 8 and a florocarbon leader from 6#-12# depends on what I'm doing. I gave that same rod to my friend as a gift and he's had no problems...

Ok live shrimp is out of the question here. I can get either raw or cooked shrimp. What is the better choice? Do I use a cure on the shrimp if? Will a borax cure work? Do I use the whole tail or just a piece? Any other advise would help thanks. Oh this is for river fishing steelhead.

Can you add food coloring to this to help add more color or is the jello enough? What do you use to make pink? How much jello do you use? Sorry for all the questions but I actually thought making cure was harder than just adding a few things together.
