Got a fishing boat but no hitch, who wants to go fishing?

Thanks Jim. My Escort is a 5 speed, but I ended up returning the hitch because the 2nd gen Escorts are not rated to tow anything, and there's only 1,000 lbs between the car weight and the GWVR. Weighed my boat and it was about 550 lbs with the batteries but no motor, so that would have been...

Got a fishing boat but no hitch, who wants to go fishing?

Update: I got a hitch today from U-Haul, drove over to Eugene to get it but it was better than waiting the 5-7 days and not taking my boat out! :) Now I'm going to try and install it on my Ford Escort tomorrow, hopefully that will go smoothly.

Got a fishing boat but no hitch, who wants to go fishing?

I just got a fishing boat for my birthday, first boat I've ever had. It's a 12' 1964 Lund. It's on a trailer and everything, with a 2" ball, but I don't have a hitch until the one I'm ordering from U-Haul today gets here. If anyone wants to make a trip up to Lava Lake maybe or somewhere else...

    Any tips for fishing wickiup?

Nice fish! Not sure how well I could troll in this kayak, doesn't have a spot to hold the pole behind me like some do. When you say trolling a fly, do you mean a tied fly for fly fishing? I do happen to have some of those. Have heard a lot about rapalas but never used them. Sounds like I need...

    Any tips for fishing wickiup?

I've never caught a Kokanee or brown trout, other than last time I was here a small one from the bank. Now I'm back camping on the nw side of the lake, between crane and Davis arms, and with a kayak this time! Don't have much for gear other than various spinners, power bait, and some kind of...

Fly fishing Central Oregon (first time)

I read all the fish in the lake were poisoned to get rid of bull heads. If they just stocked it with rainbow trout I'm not really interested, caught plenty of those at parks and what not was hoping to get something a little better.

Fly fishing Central Oregon (first time)

Thanks for the help guys. It turns out we're not going fly fishing now, just regular old tackle and bait. Would that change where we should go? If the Deschutes or Fall Creek are any good right now, those are a lot closer. If not the Crooked still sounds like a good idea.

Fly fishing Central Oregon (first time)

Sounds like that's where we'll be going, then... really we just want to have a good time but it would be nice to catch a couple fish, this will be our first time fishing this year and first time ever fishing this part of Oregon. It looks like we can drive east of Bend, through Alfalfa to get to...

Fly fishing Central Oregon (first time)

Thanks for the tips, guys. Hadn't thought about the crooked river, I'll look into that. Haven't been over that way at all since moving to Central Oregon. Any particular spots on the river I should check out? We don't have any sort of boat or pontoon so are strictly going to be bank fishing.

Fly fishing Central Oregon (first time)

I've fished with a tackle setup my whole life, but next month my parents are coming to visit Sunriver and my dad wants to fly fish one of the rivers over here. He's done it a couple times but is also mostly a tackle fisherman, so we're both pretty new to this. Wondering where our best bet would...

    Empire Lakes?

Anyone having any luck at Empire Lakes this year? They just stocked it a couple weeks ago but I haven't seen many people there. Went down for an hour or so today and didn't have any bites, probably going back tomorrow. Oh and hi my name is Zac, I'm 24 and have lived in Coos Bay most of my life.
