So I want to buy a boat but know nothing about boats

This is actually a good time to start looking for a boat. I've noticed the size and age of the motor (outboard) usually is key in the price. If you purchase a boat with an engine 10hp or above you'll have to take the online boating test (open book) and procure a license (one time fee). Once you...

    Seeking a crappie hole.

CG Reservoir has mercury and I wouldn't recommend eating any long term fish (like crappie) from it. I've been told Lookout Reservoir and Fall Creek Reservoir have healthy populations of crappie. (and no mercury) I don't fish for them so I don't have first hand knowledge.

New to Eugene area - reports of my first week/questions

Drive up the Mckenzie Highway, cross the Goodpasture bridge, drive until the road turns to gravel and you'll see a small parking lot on the left. Park and backtrack about 50 feet or so down the road and you'll find a faint path that leads down to a nice hole. It's not easy to get in and out with...

    Crazy looking lingcod

I've seen where living in rusty metal wrecks has changed the color of lobster and eels. Maybe that is the case here.

    2022 license

I think a basic course in sales and marketing would help the ODFW do better in license sales. They raise the price so fewer people buy licenses, so they raise the price to make up for the shortfall and fewer people buy a license. It's the definition of insanity. Lower the price to where people...

    Lookout Point Reservoir

I've never caught a sucker there but you can catch some big pike minnows (3-5lbs) along the cliffs directly across from the midway launch. I've caught a lot of nice rainbows and kok's at Lookout but it can be pretty hit and miss. Best months I've seen are July and August once the lake warms up...

    Trout 2007 Show OFF

Fished Dexter yesterday afternoon. Heard trout action was picking up. Missed a couple but caught 3 fat 13 inchers. (and 1 squawfish that is pushing up daisies ) Spinnerfly with a piece of worm trolled at 4 feet at the west end of the lake. (Jet boat races going on now so don't bother until at...

    Florence Lake trout fishing

Try Munsel, there's a nice hole right next to the boat ramp. Also try Sutton lake, it has a lot of easy trails leading to fishing spots from the highway next to the lake. (North of the parking lot) Bottom fishing like you've been with power bait or worms should be productive.

    Report: Lookout Point Res.:7/1/12

Fished Lookout 3 times this month. First 2 times were good for trout down around the dam trolling at about 15 feet with chunk of worm or grub and crawfish scent. 12-14inch very heavy trout. Biggest we got was a 16 incher on the second trip. Third trip only got us 1 danged trout for a full day...

    Walleye in Lookout...

I've fished Lookout a lot. Never ever caught a walleye, I have caught some huge Pike Minnows (3-5lbs) and even the big ones are too bony to eat. I've also caught lots of trout and kokes. Best place I've found for pike minnows is the rock wall directly across from the mid lake launch ramp. (only...
