Can't believe in a month we'll be fishing in Oregon.....have really enjoyed planning the trip. Really looking forward to fishing for Surfperch....we're pretty lucky, one of the members from this site is going to meet us and make sure we don't look like complete dummies......Monday a Sturgeon...

Seems I read or heard somewhere that you can call the Oregon Department of Natural Resources and they can update you on the location of surfperch along the coast...........or am I nuts.:D Lots of good info on how to fish for them......is one part of the trip that we are all looking forward to.

Talked with Doug today, seems like a pretty good guy......I would imagine we could do better at cabela's or the big name stores, but we really try to do business with the local guys on out trips.....he's going to see what comes in as used equipment over the next few months......thanks for the lead.

Thank you for the information......we will be arriving April 24th and will also be looking to bank fish for Sturgeon as well as Springers......any recommendations on where to pick up the gear when we get there.......will most likely order in advance as there will be 7 of us buying rigs.

We will be in the Portland area for two day, until we do the Sturgeon Charter and am thinking about "Plunking" from the bank on the Willamette and Columbia........checked out the thread on plunking, seems pretty straight forward, however 8 ounces of weight, can honestly say I have never pitched...

Thank you for the input, will start off with Fishing in Oregon and Complete Anglers Guide..........I am sure they will have good information on the Rivers, but will also be looking into fishing from shore in the ocean. Still a lot of time to plan......would really like to include an over night...
